Studio 26: Cedars

Cedars

Since 1919, Cedars has supported individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Cedars is known for creative employment opportunities, dynamic work environments, and residential living designed to encourage independence and growth. Here, personal accomplishments are celebrated, skills are mastered, and talents are cultivated. Cedars is committed to making sure that every participant and resident lives a creative, productive and joyous life.

They offer residential programs that include ten homes in San Rafael and Novato, as well as the Generoso Pope, Jr. campus in Ross, where residents live full and meaningful lives as active members of their local communities. Cedars residents have access to the support of a health services team that works with staff and families to coordinate their healthcare. In addition, Cedars offers coordinated activities to ensure that residents have the opportunity to enjoy all that the Bay Area has to offer including professional sports, arts, theater and music performances, Special Olympics and other community events.

Their innovative day programs connect individuals with the best expression of themselves. Individuals at Cedars are working artists, master weavers, business owners, beekeepers, animal caregivers, chefs, gardeners, puppeteers, and volunteers who support our local community. Artists, weavers and jewelry designers exhibit and sell their work in art shows throughout the world. Their work is on display at Artist Within – a Cedars Gallery, located in downtown San Anselmo and they will now extend their studio practice to the Art Works Downtown campus.
