Navigating Artist Residencies
December 9, 6pm via Zoom
Marin-based artist Rainey Straus will share her experiences from recent residencies at the BigCi Environmental Residency in Australia, the Morris Graves Foundation, and the Lucid Art Foundation. Rooted in the landscapes of Marin and Point Reyes, Straus’s practice explores how art can foster kinship with the more-than-human world. In this talk, she will discuss how residencies can deepen creative inquiry and offer practical insight into identifying opportunities, crafting strong applications, and preparing to engage fully with new environments as collaborators in the creative process.
