Studio 4: Cherish Spikes

2026–2027 The Max Thelen Studio Residency 
The Max Thelen Studio is a studio residency program generously funded by the Fenwick Foundation in commemoration of Max Thelen Jr. The residency aims to support emerging artists by providing free studio space, exhibition opportunity, and exposure to the public for one year. 

Cherish Spikes is an artist based in the North Bay. She has contributed to public art initiatives for commercial clients and murals across the Bay Area. Most recently, the Sky Whale Mural, organized by Rachel Hebert and the city of Corte Madera. Currently working as a fine arts instructor in San Francisco, she seeks to develop an artistic identity rooted in her Bay Area community and global travels. As a young artist, she is faced with the challenge of developing her artistic expression and storytelling and seeks to explore such themes the Max Thelen Residency.
