I worked as a photographer before I began to paint. It gave me the eye for composition and understanding of tones. I now use my photos for ideas for paintings. I enjoy adding a sense of familiarity, storytelling and sometimes humor into my art. It becomes an extension of who I am.

I've been teaching students now since 1997 which came naturally to me. I guess the seed was started when, in my own college art classes, my classmates would ask me for help. I see how the student (either child or adult) will gain a new level of confidence by discovering talents they didn't know they had, and that rolls over to many aspects of their life. It's been very rewarding. Being able to be creative and to show others is now my life's work and I love it.
