Carol Peek grew up in Marin County, CA where the beauty of the landscape first inspired her to become an artist. She began her study of art at UC Santa Barbara, and at UC Berkeley. She then attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, for 4 years where she received her BFA (with honors).  Her distinguished teachers include Christopher Brown, Dan McCaw, Craig Nelson and Richard Bunkall.

Carol also supplemented her formal art education with workshops, studying with other professionals that she admires such as John Asaro, Len Schmiel, George Carlson, Michael Lynch, Ned Jacob and Tim Lawson. She also studied at the Grand Central Art Academy in NYC and spent a Fall at The Vermont Artist Studio. Each of these experiences helped to hone her skills and define her vision as a unique artist.

Carol describes herself as an Impressionist/Realist painter. Her mastery of mood and technique, combined with her understanding of color and light, caused her early work to be compared to the California impressionists Granville Redmond and William Wendt. Carol paints the landscape at all times of the year, including meadows covered in fog and golden hillsides during the dry season. She has loved animals since childhood, and many of her works include horses, sheep, or cows grazing or standing in the barnyard.

Carol’s work is exhibited at galleries and museums throughout the US. She has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the North Point Gallery in SF, Morris and Whiteside in Hilton Head, SC, and the Hubert Gallery in NYC. Carol has been featured on covers of art magazines as well as having feature articles about her work appear in American Artist, US Art, Art of the West, The Artist’s Magazine, and Southwest Art, among others. Her work can found on book covers and in books of landscapes painting as well as horses.
