This work is a combination of newer and older pieces all focused on the aesthetic of suburban California. There is great beauty in "our" world. In these paintings and drawings Josh Powell has tried to express the timeless quality of the world we are creating with our sprawling contemporary culture. These are not studio pieces. They were made on site and do not idealize. They try to capture what is present and the artist hopes they have succeeded.
