Lakes Basin Review
Artwork by Kay Russell
July 11-August 2, 2014
Reception: July 11 • 5–8pm
Kay Russell's family and students have been visiting the Lakes Basin of the Sierra, (northeast of Tahoe) for over 20 years. The paintings inspired by these visits site include landscape/details, and views of many hikes, lakes, and vistas. Snow and rain paintings, and close-ups of Sand Pond which lies at the base of the Sierra Buttes are also included. Their visits have always created connections with inspiring images and lasting memories. These paintings do not attempt to capture a scene, but the spirit of the environment, atmosphere, and the poetry of the moment.
