Art Works Downtown is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation which rents 17 legally affordable apartments to artists and others who qualify for very low income housing.

The rents and income limits are set by the San Rafael Redevelopment Agency according to Bay Area incomes. As a resident, you are required to provide income verification twice a year in the form of wage statements or income tax returns. Compliance is a condition of your rental agreement.

If your income exceeds the recommmendations for very low income housing, you will be asked to move so that we can rent the apartment to qualified applicants.

Applications are kept for one year and are reviewed as apartments become available. Submitting an application does not automatically qualify you for an apartment. Tenant selection will be based upon certain requirements including rental history and credit check. Each member of a household must complete an application and income certification form.

There is no discrimination against or segregation of any person or group of persons on acccount of race, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, marital or family status, ancestry or national origin in the operation of the apartments.
