How to Apply for Exhibitions

Art Works Downtown's award-winning gallery hosts six to eight exhibitions a year. The gallery features San Francisco Bay Area artists only. Our community gallery helps to increase the public's understanding and appreciation of art.

Exhibitions are either juried or invitational. If you would like to apply for a solo show, group show or just want to submit an idea for an exhibition, please submit an exhibition proposal to the Show Committee.

Individual/ Group Exhibitions
Please write a letter to Art Works Downtown addressed to the Show Committee describing your work and the concept for the exhibition you would like to have. Include a bio/resume, an artist statement, and five slides or prints of your work. The committee meets several times a year to make selections.

Juried Exhibitions
The gallery has 2 - 4 open juried shows a year. There is a "Call for Entries" or "Prospectus" in our calendar, on the website and posted in "Artweek." You can also automatically receive a prospectus via email by joining our mailing list as an artist. The entry requirements for these exhibitions are $20 for up three slides; please include bio/resume and artist statement. You may stop by AWD for a prospectus, call us to mail you one, or download it from our website (see our Events/Exhibitions page for upcoming juried shows).
